The growing US sports betting market continues to open up opportunities for international operators. The latest news is that the Swedish gaming operator, Betsson has entered the market by signing a multi-year deal with Dostal Alley Casino in Colorado.
The 10 year partnership will see Betsson launch its proprietary sportsbook at the casino early next year.
The CEO of Betsson, Pontus Lindwall said in a press release that the company was excited to reach this milestone, further extending Betsson’s global reach by entering the fast-growing US online gambling market.
“The whole country has a strong culture of gambling and is now experiencing online penetration at accelerated pace, where consumers are transitioning from traditional retail outlets to also now bet on their mobile devices,” he said. “We have followed the development in the US closely since the possibility of a repeal of the PASPA and have carefully considered ways to enter the market. We are now looking forward to exploring the potential with our proprietary sportsbook.”
On May 1st, 2020, sports betting went live and legal in Colorado, after legislation was approved in November last year. Gamblers are allowed to bet directly from their smartphones or tables as long as they are physically located within the state. They do not need to be a state resident to bet on Colorado sportsbook apps. Goelocation technology is used to verify the player’s location.
According to Dostal Alley Casino’s CFO, CinDee Spellman, the casino has over 28 years of experience in the gaming business and was “thrilled” to welcome Betsson to the US as it partners with them for online sports betting in Colorado.
Dostal Alley is a locally owned family casino and brewery. The gaming side was established in 1991 and was one of the first casinos allowed to operate in the state.
Betsson offers digital and mobile gaming entertainment, incorporating casino games, sportsbook betting, poker, bingo and scratch cards.
