The month of February saw poker rooms in Nevada earn $8,975,000, which is an increase of 5.44% from the same period last year. This information was based on gaming figures released by the Nevada gaming regulators.
There are over 70 poker rooms in Nevada and combined they offer over 650 tables. The only change in those figures was one less table than those operating in January, when revenue was reported at $9.5 million, which was a 2.85% decline in comparison to January 2015. This February’s increase of 5.44% was its largest since January 2014. That period saw revenue increased by 7.56% to $10,152,000 when compared to January 2013.
Nevada Poker Rooms took in slightly over $118 million during the 2015 calendar year. This is a substantial sum but was still a decline of 1.5% over the year 2013, when revenue was reported at $123.9 million and 2014’s was just shy of $120 million
The revenue that these numbers are based on includes online poker. This has an estimated net worth of $10 million for the state. Currently, there are two poker rooms licensed in the state for online play.
Whether revenue for the online poker sector will see an increase in profitability in the year ahead is unknown. The amount currently generated is far less than anticipated when this revenue stream first came in to affect. Generally, revenue in Vegas has seen regular reductions over the last several years, which is believed to be directly related to the economy. Industry analysts do not appear concerned as fluctuations in profit is common and is an anticipated expectation.
Going forward, revenue relating to poker in Nevada will remain consistent. The next few months are expected to see slight increases as a result of the current WSOP tournaments that are on-going as well as the main event that is slated for the month of May. The lead up to this event will see traffic increasing due to satellite games, bracelet events, daily deep stack tourney’s and cash games.
